The shape of the leaf provided an interesting frame for the shot of this lovely little friend.
Angry!
I got only a couple of seconds before the fly flew off - I really loved the way the fly was sitting on the pollens and provided a clean shot with the fly staring into the space ahead.
Colors of nature

Canon EOS 600D |Tamron SP 90mm Di VC Macro Lens | 1/200s @ f/14I found this small butterfly ready to emerge from its pupae on a visit to a park - decided to wait for almost and hour to get it at the right stage with some parts out, while others already inside the relative safety of the pupae.
Scary, or beautiful?
I got food!
Waiting for prey...
Rest for a while.. Then fly away!
This robber fly was flying around quite a lot with the kill in its hold - since these insects are typically territorial, I waited around to capture the shot I wanted with the hunter and the prey clearly visible and the compound eyes adding to the image.
Vanity
I can dance too...
This small lantern bug has an interesting shape, but it usually keeps moving at a slow and steady pace - I wanted to capture this image in the natural light without flash to capture the sense of calmness that the scene and the insect brought with its unhurried pace.
The closeup of the compound eyes if this fly was challenging mainly because all I had for lighting was the pop-up flash on my camera which brings with it the harshness and the flatness usually associated. I could not use natural light due to the smaller aperture to get a bit more DoF so had to plan the shot in a way to use the pop-up flash to create some catchlight in the eyes, without too much specular highlights.
The resting man
The connection...
Taken for a ride!
The contrast of the strong and powerful and rought looking robber fly with the lithe and colorful blue-banded bee in this frame is something I could not resist capturing.
The setting sun of the evening provided a perfect opportunity to capture a 'shadow selfie' of myself together with the beauty of the mountains with the dynamism provided by the puffy clouds. Since this was on a trekking trip where I did not have my DSLR, I decided to explore the capabilities of phone camera (Google Nexus 5) to capture the beauty of nature.
The landscape of the place with white puffy clouds, the mountains providing a diagonal framing line and the rocky ground provided an interesting contrast in colors and texture. Since this was on a trekking trip where I did not have my DSLR, I decided to explore the capabilities of phone camera (Google Nexus 5) to capture the beauty of nature.
This small spider was hanging by a single delicate looking thread - yet we know that it is one of the strongest threads nature creates.
